15 Summer Beauty Products I Can’t Live Without
Yes. This title is totally hyperbolic. Like, I could totally live without any beauty product. But we live in a hyperbolic world and you get my point, right?
ANYWAY. When it comes to beauty, my approach to makeup is almost always, less is more.
I mean, I had spent so long covering myself up, that when I actually stopped wearing makeup altogether, I barely recognized myself. Now that I’ve finally come to terms with my face au naturale, I like to show it off. Especially in the summer.
While it won’t surprise you that my approach to summer beauty is also, less is more, I’m still a girl who's attracted to shimmery branding, the promise of dewy skin, and who loves a hot red nail polish. These are the 15 summer beauty products that help me to achieve my fundamental beauty balance, stay true to myself, and feel gorgeous all season long.
1. Protect & Perfect Tinted Moisturizer
Josie Maran’s Argan Daily Moisturizer with SPF 47 has just enough tint and more than enough SPF to keep me protected all day long. It’s not heavy or sticky, and provides a subtle sheer tinted coverage, making it the perfect product to pack in your beach bag

*A slightly more economic option is Andalou Naturals Color+Correct tinted moisturizer with SPF 30. I keep this one with me in my backpack at all times.
2. Sun Bum, SPF 30
Because now that I’m over that mid-20’s hump, I’m realizing the importance of wearing sunscreen (and also kicking myself for all of those years I thought I didn’t need to wear it). I love Sun Bum sunscreen, because it's (mostly) natural, effective, and smells amazing. If you’re going to be spending a day in the sun, do yourself a favor and slather this stuff on, first.
3. Day Undone Sun Repair Serum
Are we noticing a trend, yet? I take my suncare very seriously. I picked up this sun-repair serum by Goddess Garden Organics, and can I just say, it’s incredible. I apply it every night before bed and wake up with skin that feels moisturized, and smooth. It’s so good, my BF has even started using it.
4. After Sun Balm
This little tin pot of After Sun Balm is certified organic and pure magic. I use it religiously to soothe my sun-parched skin — usually my chest or shoulders need it the most. It takes the heat out of a burn, prevents peeling, and is both hydrating and nourishing.
5. Blinc Mascara Amplified
It’s not your typical mascara, in that it doesn’t paint your eyelashes at all. Rather, Blinc Mascara creates little tubes around each of your individual lashes. The best part about this stuff is that it won’t run, smudge, or give you that dreaded raccoon look after you’ve been splashing around in the pool.
6. The Multiple
I don’t always wear blush and bronzer, but when I do, it’s Nars’ Cream-to-Powder makeup sticks. They call it the multiple, because of its versatility. You can use these makeup sticks on your cheeks, lips, eyes...anywhere! My go-to colors are South Beach for a shimmery apricot bronze, and Orgasm (obviously) for the classic cheek blush. (Hint: Orgasm also looks amazing on lips with a touch of gloss over top!)
7. Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Summer is hot and sticky, and while I'm all for the "dewy look" there's a difference between "dewy" and "greasy." I gently brush this translucent setting powder all over my face after applying my tinted moisturizer(s) and bronzer.
8. Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick
Because nobody likes dry lips, and when it comes to summer, the slick wet look is totally in. And also. Nothing pulls a face together quite like an uber-bright lipstick. I don't care what my brother's say about the matter. I swipe this Coral Delight lipstick onto my no makeup face (okay, fine, I'm wearing the tinted moisturizer) and immediately feel ready to bring on the night. Or the day. Or whatever.
9. Rosebud Salve
For extra glossy and hydrated lips with a touch of color, I’m always dipping my fingers into my Smith’s pot. Wear it alone as a nourishing lip balm, or swipe it over lipstick to give your lips that wet paint glossy look.
10. Prêt-a-Powder Dry Shampoo
I love this dry shampoo for many reasons. For one, a 2 oz. bottle of it will last you forever, literally. It’s also small and lightweight, so I can easily throw it in my backpack, and it’s not aerosol, so I can pack it in my carry-on. Best of all, it’s not just a dry shampoo, but an all-in-one style extender and volumizer.
11. Beach Hair, Beauty, and Body Mists
I have very straight, very fine hair which is great and all, but sometimes I wish it had a little more texture or volume. With Olivine’s Love + Salt beach hair and body mist, I can literally take the ocean with me and achieve that tousley textured look in just a few spritz. The Love + Roses Beauty Mist is an all-over beauty mist that smells amazing. 100% vegan, and full of natural anti-aging beautifiers (whatever that means), essential oils and sacred flower essences to soften skin. I love using this beauty mist to lock in my body lotion, give myself a subtle floral scent, or to simply freshen up.
12. Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist
Can you tell, I’m all about the mists? This mist in particular, is the one I bring with me to the beach. When things are heating up on the sand, I give myself a spritz or two of this hydrating facial mist. I also love to pack it in my carry-on when I’m flying. It’s amazing for combatting the dry airplane air, and jet lag complexion.
13. Coconut Oil
Obviously. Coconut oil is completely all purpose. Not only does it have natural SPF of 4-5, it contains anti-oxidants. I slather it on my skin while laying out in the sun, comb it through my hair for an ultra hydrating mask, swish it in my mouth to keep my pearly whites white, and even put it in my coffee for a subtle coconut-y flavor.
14. Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter
If there's one thing I hate, it's having dry skin. Just ask my boyfriend — he's constantly catching me applying and reapplying lotions and oils and tinctures to my bod. This Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter is all sorts of perfect as it not only moisturizes dry skin, but adds a soft shimmer to your summer skin.
15. "Really Red" Nail Polish
This red nail polish is classic and chic all summer long. I love Essie’s nail polishes for their glossy finish, and long-lasting color. Maybe it’s all in my head, but I swear my Essie polishes chip way less than my other polishes.
