Mid-Month Micropleasures, Musings, and Meanderings: October 2017

This one’s late. Like...a whole week late. I contemplated not writing it at all, but once upon a time a few months ago, one lovely lady left one lovely comment on Facebook saying that she looked forward to reading these every month, so alas, here I am. The Truth About “Finding Yourself” In A Foreign Country

Part of me wonders — not for the first time in my life — what the f*ck I’m doing here? Except I know what I’m doing here. 1.  Time is precious. There are some things in life that, for the most part, you just have to do (like learn to tie your shoes, go to school, earn yourself a living). But there’s also a whole bunch of other things that you don’t have to do if you don’t want to (like go on that date because you feel bad for him, be friends with the girls who make you feel bad, attend the book club meeting you always dread), because time is precious, and life is full of choices and if it doesn’t make you feel good, what’s the point in doing it?

My Birthday Wishlist, AKA, All The Things I Want to Buy For Myself But Can’t Justify Because I’m an Adult Now...

I don’t relish the idea of turning 28 in 2 weeks — of descending one year deeper into the vortex of adulthood and further from the carefree days of my youth. But, at least where birthdays are concerned, there’s one thing to look forward to: the cake.Okay, two things: the cake and the presents.
